There are many literatures; some of them make excellent arguments why the
Bible is fake, why it contradicts itself or why God is not real. There are no
shortage in amount of scientific theory how the universe had created itself
without God. You can study your entire life and find more material, arguments
and philosophy on why there is no God.
Unfortunately, no matter what, none of these studies will ever convince people there is no God. The glory of God is in escapable in the universe. You can certainly use these writings as a tool to help you deny God, but they will never banish the realization that God created you. Just look at your hand and move it. His glory is that obvious.
There are so many uncertainties in this world. It is impossible to prove or disprove God. Christianity just comes down to faith. I will point out the big white elephant in the room right now.
You can assign many colorful descriptions to faith, but in the end, it is stupid. Paul said so 1Cor 1:18 “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.” In case you do not believe Paul, even Jesus himself said so. Luke 18:17 “whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” Child-like faith means there is no logical support for it. There is no prove of reward. We must just believe “he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” Heb 11:16.
Of course, God could have easily require higher education and deep philosophical
understanding to have faith. That would exclude most people except those who
are exceptionally learned and gifted in understanding. God instead set the intelligence
bar very low so anyone can come to him. That means anyone no matter where they
are at in the education, financial or gifted scale. Simply “whoever believes
in him will not perish” John 3:16.
There still is a goal post however. Only that the goal post has moved. It is not the extremely gifted that have salvation. Education is no longer the standard for salvation. In another word, if you keep looking for salvation in education and deep philosophical understanding, you will not come to Jesus. But there is another goal post that is equally high, but anyone, even simpletons can attain. What is that goal post?
The new goal post is just desire. You must want it. What does it mean to “want it”? For one, it is humility to acknowledge God. God created the universe, if you do not acknowledge and worship him, that is a sin already. It is also humility to acknowledge you are going to die with your sin, and all the knowledge and science is not going to do any good. This new goal post of humility is low enough for everyone, but high enough only the wise will humble themselves before God and seek after him. The cost is you will seek him above all else. Understand that there is a cost to it.
To understand what is faith, first understand what it is not. Faith is not forcing yourself to blot out all evidence and think about God. People thinks faithful Christians have this ability to force themselves to believe anything. You can force yourself to believe anything, but that is not faith in God. It does not take huge mind bending determination to have faith. As a matter of fact, faith ultimately comes from God. Your part of the effort is desire. Jesus said, count the cost first. Understand this is a one way street. Make a decision to give everything to seek God, and there is no turning back. You flip flop, and you are not fit for God’s kingdom. It is that serious.
There is power in the name of Jesus. Just having enough faith to call on his name will already be enough. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” Romans 10:13.
In the name of Jesus, I command all wicked influence of the devil to leave.
In the name of Jesus, I ask to commit myself to you.
In the name of Jesus, I give you all my sin.
In the name of Jesus, let all that is in the world to means nothing to me.
In the name of Jesus, let me be crucified with you so I can attain to eternal life.
In the name of Jesus, let me dwell with you forever. Let me be a pillar in the house of God.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
